Enterprise19 is a creative enterprise run under the Post19 umbrella.

We give the young adults who attend Post19 opportunities to develop their skills, get creative and work on real projects. This can include creating artwork, designing products, working on commissions and helping with different parts of the Enterprise19 business.

Some of the work they create is sold through our shop, while other artwork may simply be part of their day, used for displays, activities or personal projects.

The artwork is created by the young adults who attend Post19, with support from our team where needed.

Sometimes they work from their own ideas. At other times, we give them a theme or a specific brief to work from. For example, we might ask for Christmas or Easter designs, or a drawing of a particular building for a commission.

This gives them the chance to work on different types of creative projects and try out different styles and ideas.

A lot of artwork is created that never becomes a product. Some pieces are used for activities or displays, and some are simply enjoyed as artwork in their own right.

When we are looking for artwork for a particular product or commission, we select pieces that work for that project and then develop them into the finished product where appropriate.

It can start with something as simple as a drawing created during one of our sessions.

If we think it could work well as a product, our team may adapt or prepare the artwork for printing or production. Depending on the product, there may also be additional design, printing, manufacturing or finishing involved.

The original creative idea comes from the young adult who made the artwork, while our team helps turn that idea into something that can be sold.

Where appropriate, yes.

We like to give credit to the person behind the artwork, and you may see their name included on products such as our greeting cards.

We think it is important that customers know there is a real person behind the artwork they are buying.

Our agreements with the young adults and their families set out how artwork created as part of Enterprise19 can be used.

This allows Enterprise19 to use and develop suitable artwork for products, commissions and other creative projects.

We are introducing a points system to recognise the contribution of the young adults whose artwork is used on our products.

For each qualifying product sold, the young adult whose artwork is used receives a point. Points can be collected and redeemed for vouchers.

The aim is to give our young adults a simple and tangible way to be recognised when their creative work is used commercially.

Enterprise19 sits within Post19, which provides a supported programme for young adults with learning difficulties and disabilities.

The people we support have individual circumstances and funding arrangements, so a straightforward employment or payment model is not appropriate for everyone.

The points system gives us a way to recognise creative contributions and sales without treating the arrangement as conventional employment.

Enterprise19 is designed to generate income that can be put back into the enterprise and the opportunities we provide.

Money from sales helps us cover the costs of producing and running Enterprise19, develop new products and projects, and create further opportunities for the young adults we support.

As the business grows, our aim is for Enterprise19 to become increasingly sustainable while continuing to provide meaningful creative opportunities.
